Escaliers de Gustave Moreau.
The spiral staircase in my favorite Museum in Paris, the Gustave Moreau museum, located in the ninth arrondissement. Moreau was a French symbolist painter during the late nineteenth century, who depicted mostly biblical and mythological scenes. He was praised by writers such as J-K. Huysmans, and was later on specifically admired by the surrealist writer André Breton, who claimed Moreau’s work was a pre-cursor to the movement he fathered decades later. Today, Moreau’s workshop has been turned into a national museum, with the first floor preserved to the time period, and the upper floors displaying many of the almost 8,000 works he produced during his lifetime. This is a small and under-appreciated museum that is definitely worth a visit!

Mmm I love spiral staircases. How did you know?
